It’s springtime in North Dakota – we made it through another winter! This particular winter seemed to be longer than most. Snow starting in early November and lasting well into April has that effect on people. Little skiffs of snow rolled through the area all winter long, leaving the roads icy and messy more days than not.
There are so many signs of spring out in the country. The green grass starts to poke through the crispy, brown remainder of the past year’s summer. The first spring rain rolls through, washes the dust off of everything and leaves the pastures green seemingly overnight. Kittens and calves are born, crocuses bloom, animals breathe a sigh of relief that the cold is over and bask in the sunshine on warm afternoons.
Farmers anxiously get their equipment ready to feed the world for another year. They will spend hours in dusty fields planting and tending to crops hoping for well timed rains and good yields. Soon the fields will be tinted green as the plants emerge and the countryside will be beautiful and vibrant once again.
