Sugar Cookie Bars with Caramel Buttercream Frosting
Frosted sugar cookies brought to the next level!
Ingredients
Dough
- 13 tbsp butter, browned
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs, large
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
Frosting
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325℉ and grease a 9×13 pan.
- In a medium saucepan, brown the butter over medium heat. The butter is browned when it changes color slightly darker, stir frequently. When it is browned, remove from heat.
- Add the browned butter to a large stand mixer. Let it cool slightly, add the brown sugar and beat well. Add vanilla and eggs once the butter is cooled enough that it won't cook the eggs. Beat everything together once again.
- Add the flour and salt, mix well. Pour batter into the greased baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes. Set the bars aside to cool.
- Once the bars are cool, start the frosting.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, add the brown sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir frequently.
- Add milk and bring back to a boil. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl and sift the powdered sugar into it. Beat with a whisk mixing attachment until smooth.
- Frost the bars and enjoy!
